Our thrift store, Redeemed Goods works in conjunction with our Mission Centre to provide low cost cothing and household items. Through our partnership with Job Gym and Employment Solutions, we train people in basic job skills and retail skills. We have few staff to keep overhead costs low and rely on our wonderful volunteer team.
Mission Centre clients in crisis may apply for a voucher for free clothing, furniture and/or household goods in cases of special circumstances. For more information about our voucher system, please speak to one of our Mission Centre Chaplains at 22 Fifth Street or by calling 905-788-3800.
After a couple of co-op placements that were not a good match, Trisha, a Centennial High School student, found a home at Redeemed Goods in our vocational training program. Because of some special needs, she had trouble remaining at her other placements. But we saw her as an image bearer of God and wanted to empower her.
She was with us from January to June. Her main duties were store maintenance and clothing display. It took some time but we saw her develop from someone who was quiet and afraid to someone who was talkative, poised and sure of her value. At the end of her placement Trisha said, “Before doing my co-op with Redeemed Goods, I would have never have spoken to a stranger because I didn’t feel like I was important enough. Now, I am able to help customers with confidence.”
