Coldest Night of the Year warms hearts

What a night for Coldest Night of the Year 2020! Our registration volunteers counted up all the money and.... drumroll please.... we surpassed our goal of $50k, $50,058! Wow! Praise the Lord! $50,058 to help hungry, homeless and hurting people in our community, some people are still collecting pledges, so there will more to come!

We can't thank everyone enough! Thank you to our volunteers, some of whom stood out in the cold, and prepared days and hours before, our staff who went above and beyond, putting in extra hours and adding to their already busy schedules, and walkers who boldly asked their friends and family to support this great cause! Our Route Marshall captain Erik McLennan and Registration Team captain Wendy Hetherington especially went above and beyond in their duties.

John Craig's Tim Hortons donated coffee and hot chocolate for everyone. Ecole Franco Niagara cooked and served delicious chili to us once again. Anita and the staff and residents at Rapeljae Lodge really went above and beyond making care packages, banners and baking to welcome our walkers at the rest stop.

We had some new teams who really hit it out of the park their first time to bat. Special mention to Cheryl Cook and Kanetix for having the largest team and raising the most amount of money, $5235! 4 walkers raised over $1000, Gord Brown, Peter Hogeterp, Cheryl Cook and Amelia Ierarci!

What an awesome team effort everyone! This money and awareness raised will go towards making sure that no one in Welland goes hungry or needs to be alone.
