"When Your Paths Seem Crooked"
Is God really in control? Is He trustworthy? Will He help? Do you ever ask these questions? Jerry Bridges tells about how he suffered a physical ailment that aggravated a lifelong infirmity. The timing was very inconvenient and, for several weeks, would respond to no medical treatment.
"During these weeks, as I continually prayed for relief, I was reminded of king Solomon's words, 'Don't fight the ways of God, for who can straighten out what he has made crooked?' " (Ecclesiastes 7:13)
"God has brought a "crooked" event into my life, and I became very aware that only He could straighten it. Could I trust God whether or not He straightened my "crook" and relieved my distress? Did I really believe that a God who loved me and knew what was best for me,was in control of my situation? Could I trust Him even if I didn't understand?"
Trusting God is learned only in the face of uncertainty. It is learned when we don't know the extent, the duration, or the frequency of the difficult circumstances.
In order to trust God, we must always view our difficult circumstances through the eyes of faith, even though it may not seem to make sense.
Right now I need "eyes fo faith" to deal with.........
Faith means trusting in advance what will only make sense in reverse.
