You might have noticed this article in this week's Niagara This Week about FoodRescue.ca. We are proud to be part of this initiative connecting those who have a surplus with those in need. We have been rescuing food for years through our partnerships with restaurants, grocery stores and farmers, so as soon as we found out about it we signed up as the first non-profit food rescuer in Niagara.
On Monday, April 30, our CEO Melissa Kirkpatrick took part in the Food Rescue Symposium in Vineland. Chris Ballard, the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change for Ontario spoke at the symposium about the importance of reduce organic waste going to the landfill, which produces an alarming amount of methane gas.
